Capitalize on Twitter

by Paras Singh, Dec 15, 2011

Most of us join Twitter thinking it is yet another social media to connect with our friends, share jokes and pictures! Well, it is true in a certain way but if you dig deeper you will realize that people can use it to launch, market, advertise not just themselves but a proper company also! All it takes is a little knowledge, little creativity and passion! All you need is your profile on Twitter and you are set to market your company through your profile in a big way. If utilized properly, twitter has proved and can prove to be a great marketing tool for companies and businesses.

Photograph it!

Never ever use the default “egg” image. I am sure you look way better than the egg or your company logo speaks a thousand worth more than that egg. So put up a nice picture or company logo that speaks to your followers and fans. Pictures say a lot about you. If you are trying to advertise your business and are expecting to get more clients via Twitter, well a drunken looking picture will not garner any clients. Be professional and have an image suitable to your company and your personality

Background

There are many templates that are suggested by Twitter or you can create your own relevant and fun background. But please do be creative and do use the background. It enhances your profile and gives it some personality and character. Lot of additions and modifications can be done to these “backgrounds”

Your Bio

Do not just put up a laundry list of all the information of you or your company. Be creative, be cohesive and be systematic. Language should be creative yet simple, easy to read yet grammatically correct! Make sure you include a link to your website or your blog so that potential clients and followers can be directed to your website

Tweets

Optimize each and every tweet. Share valuable content and action oriented language. Never abuse or say politically incorrect things. Be careful in terms of language usage. Be on top of things and try to insert humor. People like humor. Lastly, be aggressive in terms of posting. Tweet regularly especially weekends because your followers and other people will have more time to read, reply and respond
