Google’s Panda Algorithm-Providing Relevancy to High Quality Content

by Paras Singh, Apr 15, 2011

Recently there has been a lot of speculation that while certain sites are being dumped by Google some others are being promoted by it. Recently Google had applied the recent update i.e. Google’s Panda update, a major search algorithm change to tackle content farms. This algorithmic improvement was designed to help people find more high-quality sites during search.

This update though initially released in the U.S, has now been globally released. This improvement would surely help English-language Google users, including English speaking countries as well as English searches in non-English countries. However, new user feedback signals have been incorporated to help people find better search results.

One key element which is important to take into consideration is weather Google trusts your site or not?

The power of the algorithm changes and updates will reach a wider assortment of sites including the smaller ones too. This change also goes deeper into the “long tail” of low-quality websites to show users the utmost quality and most relevant pages on the web, where the algorithm might not have been able to make an evaluation before.

The previous updates had questions raised from the marketing community, for e.g. weather or not traditional article marketing is of any use for generating traffic. However, the latest Panda update has achieved milestones.

Based on our experimentation, it has been confirmed that the algorithm accurately detects site quality. However, if you feel that your site in spite of being a high-quality site is negatively impacted by this change, then it is advisable to evaluate the different aspects of your site comprehensively.

So, in-order to improve your site change, you can refer Google’s quality guidelines which provide useful information regarding site improvement.

Google had intended to provide relevancy to unique and high quality content and the Panda update is doing exactly the same.
