When we think of social media, Face book, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. immediately comes to our mind. But what about emails. Well, emails are a medium for communication and is this not the base line for social media marketing too – COMMUNICATION. In fact, emails are more personalized and customized and for the eyes of an individual only! But not many marketers know how to utilize email communication to the hilt and garner as much marketing and promotion as possible from these simple letters via the internet!

  • Informational and educational emails – start by educating and providing information about products and services to your existing customers and potential customers. Keep sending these emails every once in a while. Make them relevant and to the point
  • Offer emails – social media is a great way to launch offers, discounts, games etc. Do the same via emails. Let them know about your ongoing offers and in fact enclose a certain extra something just for them
  • Connect with the people on your email list – more the emails you send to them, more the connection will develop. Make the emails as personalized as possible. Do not ever let them feel they are part of the “mass mail” scheme. Send emails regarding your products, offers, asking them to connect with you on Face book etc.
  • Personalize emails – never make them feel they are one amongst the thousands receiving this email. Know what ticks your audience and customize and personalize emails accordingly

Email advertising and marketing has not been given enough importance by marketers in the past. Emails were considered just a method of communication and not really a social media marketing tool.
