Internet Marketing Blog of Communication and Brand Value!

The “Dont`s” of Social Media

by Paras Singh, Feb 1, 2012

Companies, brands, personalities, celebrities etc. are all over the social media. But still, we tend to follow some, like some and ignore some. Why the distinction and what is the  differential factor? Is someone better than others in communications? Well, that surely is a huge possibility. In today’s world, the way you communicate to the people and the what you communicate dictates who you are in the social media world!

Will the general public read anything that you post on your website or will they be selective. Research and studies show that people read and follow those whom they like and respect. This is based on what do the blogs, face book pages, tweets etc. really contain? Are they abusive, condescending and hurtful? Or are they informative, written in the best of English etc.? Chances of you getting noticed via your tweets an fan pages are much more if you are humorous, non condescending, respectful and informative.

  • Never talk bad about your competitors. Readers get put off by vile comments and hurtful tweets. It lowers down the respect they have for your brand
  • Many a times, readers give feed back to you. So, in your next post, do not be little or smack the people who criticized. Instead, be respectful and take it in your stride. Post the fact that their feedback is valuable and changes will be made
  • Never ever tweet or scarp about confidential information about your competitors or customers. This looks extremely bad and gives a sense of distrust amongst your readers
  • Be careful about uploading pictures. Seek prior permission from the concerned people. Do not take them by surprise or go against their wishes or else bad word against your company can spread easily. There by, negatively affecting your brand image
  • Never use abusive language. This shows the lack of integrity and values on your part
  • Do not pass on wrong information via social media. Be sure of what you are recording and writing. In case of any dire mistake, be humble and honest enough to immediately send out an apology and rectify the error

Interesting and Strategic Ways to increase influx of visitors on your Home Page

by Paras Singh, Jan 13, 2012

Many people talk about interesting websites and aggressive marketing on social media . They think it is enough to drive the customer to their page. Internet world is moving so fast that just by having a presence in the world wide web and been active on face book is now not enough. Companies need to distinguish themselves by looking into the future, gauging customer expectation and then hitting the nail in the current scenario. Well, if every ne is on twitter and have interesting websites, why should people visit your company website? Is it any different from thousands of others? Here are some unique yet strategic ways which look beyond content, twitter and fancy pictures:

  • Use a screen capture video software and watermark your videos with the URL of the website. Most of the companies mention their links at the bottom of the video which can be overlooked or ignored by the viewer. But having it right in the middle of the screen, during the video increases their chances of clicking on it
  • These days all videos are fun but  most of them have not been screen casted. Screen casting videos means talking about your web site and company and these cool things to the viewers towards the end of the video. This is a sure shot way of spreading awareness
  • Rather than presenting interesting facts about your company in “words”, create interesting graphics and animated pictures about facts of your company. This is viral and will spread across very fast
  • Have fun games and online contests. Distribute free gifts. This is a great way to increase traffic, subscribers and it will in turn spread a word about your company
  • Many employees send official emails with their details and contact numbers. Make company signatures which includes company link, mandatory across all employees
  • Interlinking pages and content on your site will fetch the best results on search engines
  • Not many of us know about this but there is “free traffic system” available on the internet.  This publishes your content, articles etc to all relevant blogs across the internet. This is a great way to increase “eyeballs” and traffic to your website
  • You make the website all chic and savvy but forget to manually submit it to the big search engine! This is disaster. At least if you manually submit it, the algorithm will start catching up on it

Lastly, track your activities and results. Correct your mistakes and keep building up on your success!

by Paras Singh, Jan 7, 2012

Someone needs to be super impressed to share and forward it! Here are few reasons why your blogs are not getting shared:

  • Probably your timing is bad. It is said that blogs published in the morning, gets “hit” and “viewed” much more than blogs published at night or evening. Know your target market and their lifestyle to “hit it on the head”
  • Your headline may not be very appealing. They are the first impressions of the viewers. Make it in nice fonts and bold it. It catches a readers eyes. • Your blogs and articles are not clear. There needs to be a positive and definite take away from your blog. If you have nothing new and interesting to offer to the readers, chances are they will not visit you again
  • You may not have “social share” button and still expect people to share?

It is important to put readers and viewers first in order to make sure your blogs are readable and further sharable!
