Google’s ‘Boilerplate Anchor Text’ to Filter Sites Having Abundant Back-links

by Paras Singh, Jan 3, 2012

A few changes in the algorithm of Google have been implemented. This has led to the emergence of a new terminology ‘Boilerplate Anchor Text’ that is a completely fresh concept for SEO and link development. Google has simply ousted some previous practices through the ‘Boilerplate Anchor Text’ concept. Now, a webpage will be devalued and its rank diminished if it contains an abundance of anchor text links having same anchor text directed to the same webpage.

This update means that Google from now on will consider all links to be ‘Blackhat’ or inorganically developed if they use the same anchor text and are directed to the same webpage. This new clause is more detrimental for small websites as traditional SEO methods require copious link building from various sources. However, in case of big sites, the abundant content balances the number of links.

There are two factors that play fundamental role in ascertaining whether a website will get promoted by using Boilerplate Anchor Text concept. The basic determining factors are:

Relevance of Content: A webpage should include links of other sites that are relevant to the subject that it speaks about. For example a website dealing with mobile phone services cannot link to a website featuring new mobile phone sets of manufacturers. In this case it will be penalized. Google wants to see a mobile servicing website linking to another similar site and not to a domain that faintly relates to the website.

Back-link Number: Google has not defined the number of back-links that could be built. This adds to the confusion. So, it is always recommended not to build back-links in bulk and not to go for purchase of back-links. It also becomes important to add high value/Pagerank/Alexarank back-links as they can offer much more value than simple low quality links.

So, Boilerplate Anchor Text is now going to serve like a filter and it will lower page rankings of sites containing excess back-links. Moreover, each link added should make good sense of the website and its domain.

Three Precious Keys to Improve Website SEO

by Paras Singh, Dec 13, 2011

There are few techniques that serve as precious keys for improving SEO of a Website. They are found by analysts after researching on sample websites that find high rankings in search engines. All websites that list in first page of search engine results are found to fulfill these basic criteria. They are as under:

Using Proper Keywords in Content of Websites:

It is fundamentally important to do extensive research on keywords that are to be incorporated in content of websites. For this reason, Google analytics can be of great use. Other free web tools can also be used for conducting keyword research. This helps the website owner gain precision about keywords that should be used in the content of the build site. It is true that some advanced versions of Adwords tools may require the user to pay for the service. But it is always worth paying for it.

Focusing on too many keywords makes a web page dense and dull. This concept has become obsolete and it is being replaced by ‘Organic SEO’. This new formula of ‘Organic SEO’ is a method whereby targeted keywords are seamlessly amalgamated in the content of web-pages. This helps to improve website SEO without having ‘keyword stuffed content’ that leads to the banning of your site by Google. While using a Keyword tool, it is good to target terms having lower level of competition as then the result can be seen fast.

Long Tail Keywords Play Predominant Role to Increasing Website SEO Ranking

Targeting long tail keywords is of paramount importance if the web-page is meant to target buyers. Long tail keywords are actually the secret to high search engine rankings. Long tail keywords are relevant key phrases containing at-least three words that are related to your particular product niche. It also helps in competition as the traffic flow to a website becomes more effectively targeted. This results in better SEO rankings.

Keyword Rich URLs Make Sites More Visible:

It is necessary to be creative enough while making URLs for a Webpage. This is the first step to make your business known on the web and so it has to be done ingeniously. A good URL definitely helps to improve website SEO and also has high re-call value for users. A short, memorable and catchy URL is easy to remember for any website user and people can connect back with businesses.

It is important to choose a webpage name intelligently with the inclusion of a relevant keyword. Usage of hyphens should be avoided and it is also recommended not to make use of session IDs and dynamic page variables. Doing so will only help to lengthen and complicate web-page URLs.

These three fundamentals are keys to improving search engine rankings of a webpage. Websites that rank high on search engine lists are those that fulfill these basic criteria. So, they need to be implemented while working to optimize a website and its internal pages.
